How to add images to your iPhone Simulator

I have been developing an iPhone application tonight and had to create an image selector. The simulator told me I can add images through iTunes, so I opened iTunes but there wasn't anything obvious.

So the next thing I tried was drag an image into the simulator and walla!

Some really easy instructions to adding images to your simulator.

  1. Have your simulator open.
  2. Drag an image into the simulator.
  3. iPhone Safari will start and it will open the image you have dragged onto the simulator. Click and hold down on the image until a menu appears.
  4. Click 'Save Image' and your done.

Any further tips for working with the simulator, just ask me.

Dragging images into the simulator is fine if you only have one or two images to import. If you need to import more then check out an article I wrote here: http://aptogo.co.uk/?p=203 . It describes how to do a bulk import of images into the simulator with correct generation of thumbnails and updating of the photo database. It works for all versions of the simulator including 4.x.
I can confirm this still works fine, I've imported images into my iPad Simulator numerous times.
this used to work for me prior to iOS 4.0. now it doesnt work since i updated to 4.0. my app dev has kinda halted because i have no images to work with anymore. im using a UIImagePickerController to browse the photo library or the saved photos. i even updated to 4.1 to see if it was fixed, but to no avail. it seems that everyone is experiencing similar results. do you happen to know of any work around?
